About the Author
I was born in Puerto Rico and grew up in El Salvador and Connecticut. I have also lived in the Florida, the Dominican Republic and France. I've had somewhat of a nomadic life, and so I write from a perspective that includes both displacement and discovery. I am interested in portraying characters who, like me, belong in more than one place, and to see what happens to them as they seek to define, both geographically and emotionally, the term "home."
Photos of El Salvador

The Heiress of Water depends heavily on a sense of place. Here are some of the photos I've taken of El Salvador recently.

I cherish the photo on the left, taken at Playa El Cuco, after sunset, at lowtide. I am walking with my father, who taught me to take notice of the vastness and beauty of this place. "This beach is so wide you could land a jet here," he used to say.
